Meal Project - Delivering meals to students in need

Food is sometimes more than food. It sustains and empowers. SMC Foundation’s MEAL PROJECT is stepping up to help Santa Monica College students in need, including students formerly in foster care, homeless students, and veterans, so they can persist in  their education throughout the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.

Many students are faced with the sudden loss of their jobs, and thousands were already relying on campus meal programs and food pantries prior to the shift from on-site to online classes. We are also deeply concerned about our Emeritus students, who have been quarantined longer than most, given their vulnerability and high-risk age-group.

We have already begun home delivery of healthy meals to students this week thanks to donations received so far and our partnership with mission-driven Everytable. Homeless students are receiving meals through rendezvous points.

Please help us reach our goal of $2 million - to continue to feed thousands of students facing food insecurity.
