SMCF: Tell us about your role as a leader at SMC.
ZA: I’m the president of “EcoAction Club,” a club on campus that raises awareness about sustainability and how it can intermingle with not just everyday life, but also any professional career. As a club we run two major events on campus, Sustainability Week and Earth Week.
SMCF: Why did you choose to attend SMC?
ZA: I chose to attend Santa Monica College because SMC is the number one transfer school to my top universities I would like to attend, such as UC Berkley.
SMCF: What about the SMC environment motivates you as a student?
ZA: SMC is one of the greenest colleges in the nation, a fact that motivates me to move forward towards my career and to feel safe about the path I am taking.
SMCF: “PROUD TO BE SMC” is the alumni chant. What are you, as an individual, most proud of?
ZA: I am proud of to be part of one of the most sustainable schools in the nation, a school that has a wider vision about sustainability. Also, James Dean is an SMC Alumni.
SMCF: What three (3) words best describe your experience as an SMC student?
ZA: Sustainable, Capable, Achievable.
SMCF: Final question: What words of inspiration would you share with a new student starting at SMC?
ZA: Inspire, motivate, believe, strive, innovate.
